Lionel Messi turned 36 and received global birthday wishes, while Rosario paid tribute to the football legend.
The love and admiration for the World Cup hero were apparent in the Rosario night sky as a caricature of Messi in his trademark celebration pose was illuminated, along with a birthday greeting message: "Felix Cumple Leo" which translates to "Happy Birthday Leo."

The record seven-time Ballon d'Or winner, who has accomplished almost everything in the game after guiding his country to World Cup glory in 2022, arguably tops the list of Greatest of All Time (GOAT) footballers. This was the first time Messi celebrated his birthday in Rosario after winning the World Cup title.
Messi celebrated his birthday in style!
Messi marked his birthday with a hat-trick in the Juan Roman Riquelme testimonial match against Newell's Old Boys.
“It had been a long time since I spent a birthday in Rosario with my family and friends. It’s the first time since I’ve been world champion, so it’s special,” said Leo Messi.
The former Paris Saint Germain (PSG) striker has a good chance of winning another Ballon d’Or, but he recently said that it is no longer important to him after winning the FIFA World Cup. Messi, who won the Golden Ball winner in the 2022 WC, scored twice in the summit clash and helped his nation to win its third major trophy.
“Does the Ballon d’Or matter to me? No, it’s no longer important to me. I’ve always said, the individual prizes are not what matters to me, but the collective ones are the most important. The most important prize at the moment is the World Cup, the greatest prize for me,” Messi had told Titan Sports in China.
