India and Bangladesh battled it out on Day 4 of the Fourth Test at Chattogram. India recovered well in the first innings to end on 404 after timely contributions from Ravichandran Ashwin and Kuldeep Yadav. Then, Kuldeep starred with the ball again to keep Bangladesh down to just 150.

Kuldeep recorded a five-wicket haul in the first innings. He picked up 5-40 in the first innings in his 16-over spell. Then, India just shifted the gears in the second innings. Shubman Gill scored 110 off 152 balls with 10 fours and three sixes. Cheteshwar Pujara scored his fastest Test hundred off 130 balls which was 102 laced with 13 fours.

Unlike their lop-sided performance in the first innings, Bangladesh came out with the intention to grind it out in the second innings. The pitch at Chattogram had gotten flatter to bat on as the game progressed and the slowness of the surface assisted the batters as well. Najmul Hossain Shanto scored 67 off 156 balls, with 7 fours.

Zakir Hasan, who was playing in this series because Tamim Iqbal was injured, proved that he belonged here. He has scored an unbeaten 82 off 195 balls, with 11 fours. The left-hander was prepared to stay at the crease for long and got better with the bat as his innings progressed.

The Indians were looking for that elusive first wicket and were trying everything to get the wicket. The opening wicket was provided by Umesh Yadav, he bowled a short delivery from round the wicket, the left-hander pokes his bat to feel for the ball and the ball takes the outside edge to go to the right of the first slip. It should have been an easy catch but Virat Kohli makes a meal of it.

Here is the video

Pant showed wonderful agility to dive to his left and then take the catch with the gloves on. On replay, it said that Pant took it on the second grab as it hit his left glove first and then Pant did an outstanding job to take the catch with both hands.
