In a significant development on Monday, Indian cricket's wicketkeeper-batter extraordinaire, Rishabh Pant, provided an inspiring update on his road to recovery. Pant, who has been undergoing rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru, was spotted training with impressive intensity, signalling his remarkable comeback from a severe car accident.

The young cricket sensation had encountered a life-threatening accident on December 30, 2022, while driving to his hometown of Roorkee in Uttarakhand. Pant, who was alone in his car, had fallen asleep at the wheel, resulting in a collision with a road divider on the highway. The impact was so severe that his Mercedes overturned and caught fire.

In a testament to his quick thinking amidst the chaos, Pant managed to break the windscreen to escape the burning vehicle. The accident occurred around 5:30 a.m., and Pant was discovered lying on a grassy patch between the highway dividers by local residents and a vigilant bus driver named Sushil Kumar, who promptly called for an ambulance. Pant was initially admitted to a hospital in Roorkee but was later transferred to Max Hospital in Dehradun for further treatment.

The accident left Pant with multiple injuries, including two cuts on his forehead, a ligament tear in his right knee, and abrasions on his back. He also sustained injuries to his right wrist, ankle, and toe. Despite the seriousness of the accident, Pant remained in stable condition and was conscious and able to communicate.

The Indian Cricket Board and the Uttarakhand government spared no effort in ensuring that Pant received the best possible medical care. The Board maintained constant communication with Pant's family and the medical team attending to him, promising unwavering support during this challenging phase.
