The SA20 has been a monumental tournament for T20 cricket in South Africa; the inaugural season of the Premier T20 league of the African nation has produced some mouth-watering pieces of play. One such moment came in Wednesday’s semifinal played between Pretoria Capitals and Paarl Royals at the Wanderers Stadium.

In the game, Rilee Rossouw hit a monstrous six onto the roof of the Johannesburg Stadium off a good-length delivery that he hit down the leg side. Evan Jones tried to follow Rossouw with a slower ball in the fifth ball of the fifteenth over, but the batter could pick it off his pads and loft it over deep square leg for a 99-meter maximum.

Here’s a video of the monstrous hit:

The Paarl Royals won the toss and elected to field first. The Capitals posted a competitive total of 158/3 in their quota of 20 overs riding on Rilee Rossouw’s 56 off 41 deliveries that included 5 boundaries and 3 maximums. Eathan Bosch’s handy cameo of 22 off 10 deliveries was crucial to get the Capitals past the 150-run mark. Andile Phehlukwayo remained the pick of the bowlers for the Royals, returning with figures of 3-29 in his four overs.

In response, the Royals could only manage 124 runs as the Capitals were able to bundle them out within 19 overs. Royals skipper David Miller was the only Royals batter who could get past the individual score of 30 runs. It was a collective bowling for the capitals as Eathan Bosch, Anrich Nortje, Adil Rashid, and James Neesham returned with 2 wickets each.

The comfortable win means that Pretoria Capitals will play in the final of the SA20 scheduled for Saturday. The second semifinal will be played Thursday night between Johannesburg Super Kings and Sunrisers Eastern Cape.
