Australia are playing a Test match against the West Indies at the moment. At the second session on Day 2, they are at the time of writing, 470-3 in the first innings. Ricky Ponting is part of the commentary team for the series. Even though the Australians are dominating in the test match as of now, the former captain has got other ideas.
In an interaction with current Australian coach Andrew McDonald, he talked about the Indian T20 League and how Cameron Green will be a hot property at the Indian T20 League auction considering the scarcity of all-rounders in the Indian T20 League and how there will arise a bidding war between the franchises to get him into their side.
This is what Ponting said to McDonald in the post-lunch show, 'keep his phone on as he wanted to have an 'Indian T20 League conversation about Cameron Green'. "Maybe not here on-air but Keep your phone on tonight. I'm really interested to have an Indian T20 League conversation with you about Cam Green cos I freed up a fair bit of money for Delhi Capitals this year. I wanna low down on how much he's gonna be available. The fans will love him,"

Ponting had done this in reality because he had freed up a good amount in Delhi’s auction purse so that they could go shopping at the Indian T20 League 2023 auction. He had released the likes of Tim Seifert, Shardul Thakur, KS Bharath, Mandeep Singh and Ashwin Hebbar. Delhi now have a sizable purse of 19.45 crore to go after someone like Green.
The Australian cricketers speak highly of the Indian T20 League- Cameron Green
On the other hand, this is what Green had to say about the Indian T20 League, "Speaking to a lot of guys, especially in the WA (Western Australia) set up about their experiences in the Indian T20 League, they speak so highly of it. They speak about the quality coaches that you are around, the quality players that you are around. They are all the best in the world at their craft. It is a craft that I have not been exposed to too much. I am so open to wanting to learn as much as I can and that is probably one of the best environments to learn in," He said on cricket.com.au.
It will be no surprise to see Green triggering a bidding war and not only Delhi will be keeping a keen eye out for him, but other teams such as the Hyderabad franchise who have a 42.25 Crore, Chennai who have an INR 20.45 crore purse, Punjab who have an INR 32.2 crore purse and Lucknow who have an INR 23.35 crore purse at the auction.
