Indian women’s cricket team bagged their second win at the CWG 2022 after beating Barbados by 100 runs on Wednesday at Edgbaston. The win has helped them seal a place in the semi-final of the competition. India lost their first match of the multi-sport event against Australia but then bounced back with two consecutive wins.
Batting first, the Indian women brigade managed to score 162 off 20 overs against Barbados. Renuka Singh, once again, starred with the ball for India during the second innings. He picked four wickets during her spell and helped India win the game.
In the final ball of the fifth over, Renuka Singh bowled an inswinger to Aaliyah Alleyne. The ball came in and knocked out the off stump. The deceiver got rid of Alleyne, who had no idea about the ball. Watch the video here:

Talking about the game, Shafali Verma gave a terrific start up front with a fiery 43 off just 26 balls. Smriti Mandhana, who top scored against Pakistan, missed out against Barbados. She perished for just 5 runs. Jemimah Rodrigues anchored the innings and scored 56 off 46 balls. Harmanpreet Kaur lasted a ball and perished for a golden duck. Deepti Sharma backed up in the end with a well-made 38.
Shakera Selman was the only bowler to maintain an economy of under 5 runs an over. Aaliyah Alleyne went for 45 runs off her 4 overs. The Barbados women never looked confident while chasing.
Renuka Singh Thakur, who gave nightmares to the Australian women, was breathing fire yesterday. As many as eight bowlers were tried out against Barbados. Harmanpreet Kaur rolled her arms over too. Meghna Singh, Sneh Rana, Radha Yadav and Harmanpreet Kaur picked one wicket each.
The stunning victory against Barbados has given India a chance to bag the gold. They might play against the topper of the other group and it might be New Zealand. Although England are in the fray as well. Whoever they play against, Indian women will be toiling hard in the nets to give their best in the semi-finals.
