The stage was set for the Asia Cup finals between Sri Lanka and Pakistan. It was all the island nation’s day as they won the match by 23 runs and clinched the title. Bhanuka Rajapaksa turned out to be the hero for the team with his unbeaten 71 in the first innings. A splendid bowling performance from the team knocked Pakistan out in the finals.
Post the exciting final, journalists came up with a few questions for Ramiz Raja, the chairman of the cricket board of Pakistan. An Indian journalist asked if the fans were unhappy with the Men in Green’s defeat. The frustrated chairman got in a verbal fight with the journalist and asked if he rejoiced in the defeat as he was from India.
“Aap India se honge? Aap to bade khush honge? (Are you from India? You must be very happy then?)” Raja questioned the journalist. The chairman then snatched the phone from the journalist and it amused the entire set of people who witnessed the ugly scene unfold.
The annoyed journalist took it to Twitter to express his displeasure for the same:
क्या मेरा सवाल ग़लत था - क्या पाकिस्तान के फ़ैन नाखुश नहीं है - ये बहुत ग़लत था एक बोर्ड के चेयरमैन के रूप में - आपको मेरा फ़ोन नहीं छीनना चाहिये था - that’s not right Mr Chairman Taking my phone was not right @TheRealPCB @iramizraja #PAKvSL #SLvsPAK pic.twitter.com/tzio5cJvbG

Sri Lanka lift the title for the sixth time:
It was one great final for the underdogs Sri Lanka. The lions from the island nation barged into the field with supreme energy and confidence. Babar Azam won the toss and elected to field first. The fans backed the Men in Green to win the match as it has always been the bowling team who has emerged victorious.
Despite losing the toss and losing half of their men within ten overs, the Sri Lankan batters did not lose hope. Bhanuka Rajapaksa single-handedly took the team to a total of 170 with his unbeaten 71. The Pakistani batters failed to fire during the middle overs and ended up succumbing to 147 runs. The Sri Lankan nation erupted in joy on what was a memorable day for them.
After coming into the tournament amid a political crisis and almost getting written off by experts, the team went on to win the title for the sixth time.
