Seattle Orcas (SOR) are off to a strong start in the ongoing Major League Cricket (MLC) 2023 after winning two out of two matches. Their second win was against San Francisco Unicorns (SFU) by 35 runs on Sunday (July 16) at the Grand Prairie Stadium in Dallas. Heinrich Klaasen's match-winning half-century, followed by Cameron Gannon's four-wicket haul, set the platform for SOR.

SFU got off to a flying start in the second innings to chase down a target of 178. However, a bizarre run out of opener Finn Allen swung the tide in SOR's favour, as the bowling team took wickets at regular intervals. Matthew Wade and Allen showed intent right from the start, all guns blazing, but with the partnership collapsing in the fourth over, SFU could not regain control.

Pakistan all-rounder Shadab Khan hit a few boundaries to give the team a small ray of hope but did not get enough support from the rest. The right-handed batter's resistance also ended in the 18th over, with Gannon opting to finish things off early. The Australian pacer took three wickets in a single over to complete his four-wicket haul, which he owes partially to wicket-keeper Quinton de Kock.

Quinton de Kock's one-handed catch left spectators in awe

Gannon came in to bowl when SFU needed 38 runs in 3 overs, with Shadab hitting 36 off 21. The right-arm seamer picked up his second wicket of the match by dismissing Liam Plunkett off the second ball. He got the dangerous Shadab out in the fourth ball of the over, and de Kock grabbed his second catch of the over.

The Proteas wicketkeeper-batters' skill and athleticism were on display when Gannon took the opposition's 10th wicket on his fifth delivery. Carmi le Roux got a strong outside edge off Gannon's back-of-a-length delivery that swung away. The ball went behind the stumps, seemingly out of reach of the keeper. However, great alertness and reflexes from de Kock, who dived to his right, made it look easy as he took a stunning one-handed catch.
