Delhi Capitals (DC) opener Prithvi Shaw had a poor starting to his Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 campaign, which eventually forced the management to drop him from the playing XI. But the 23-year-old finally got some runs in the game against Punjab Kings (PBKS) on Wednesday (May 17), smashing a 36-ball half-century at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamsala.
A crucial knock came at a crucial juncture in his career, and Shaw didn't hesitate to celebrate the moment. The right-handed batter had a strange celebration where he was seen making an ‘N’ design with his hands.

A similar ‘N’ celebration was then emulated by Shaw's rumoured girlfriend Nidhhi Tapadia, who is an actor and social media influencer. Tapadia posted a video on her Instagram story, tagging the Mumbai-born cricketer, which had pictures of the two doing the celebration. The video, captioned “Whattaaa Showww shaw,” also included a picture of Shah greeting Tapadia after the match at the stadium.

Talking about Shaw's innings against PBKS, he scored 54 runs in 38 balls with seven fours and one six, giving his team a great start along with skipper David Warner. Following the dismissal of both openers, the momentum was carried forward by Rilee Rossouw, who hit a blazing 37-ball 82 to propel DC to a huge total of 213. In reply, Liam Livingstone gave a late scare, but the visitors managed to win by 15 runs and dent the playoff hopes of PBKS.
In a post-match interview with Warner, Shaw responded to his half-century by saying that he was under pressure after being dropped from the team but had put in the work needed to get back into the team.
"The mindset was simple. After getting out in 3-4 games and then getting dropped, there was pressure on me I won't lie. The work that I put in practice sessions are the things which kept me going today. Obviously, it's a bit late but we enjoyed the win. Everyone putting their hands up and not giving everything away. It's still a win and everyone is smiling so really happy," he said.
