On April 15, in an intriguing match in Lucknow, Punjab Kings (PBKS), without their skipper Shikhar Dhawan, who has scored the most runs so far in the IPL 2023, defeated Lucknow Super Giants (LSG).
Sam Curran, who led the PBKS team in Shikhar Dhawan's absence, won the toss and decided to bowl first. Kyle Mayers scored 29 runs, which was second-best among scorers, as LSG totalled 159/8 in 20 overs, with Rahul's 74 being the only notable innings. Kagiso Rabada grabbed 2 wickets, while Curran took the lead with 3/31.
In response, Yudhvir Singh, making his debut, struck out both PBKS openers for single-digit scores. Sikandar Raza, with 57, and Matthew Short, with 34, helped somewhat stabilise the innings. Shahrukh Khan's magnificent 23* hit, which included 1 four and 2 sixes, ultimately helped PBKS cross the finish line.
Sikandar Raza became the first Zimbabwean to register a half-century in IPL
Sikandar Raza, the first Zimbabwean to register a half-century in IPL, laid the groundwork for Shahrukh's big-hitting. With the help of three sixes and four boundaries, the talented Zimbabwean all-rounder struck 57 runs off of 41 deliveries.
In a video IPL shared on their social media, both PBKS batters could be seen conversing. Raza began by inquiring about Shahrukh's name's origin. The child said his parents named Shah Rukh Khan in honour of the famous Bollywood actor.

"I'm the first boy born in the family. I've got a lot of sisters in the family, and they were all huge fans of Shah Rukh Khan. I was born in 1995, and his film, Baazigar, was released somewhere around 1993-94. And my mom wanted to name me after him, so that's the reason," Shahrukh told Raza in the video on Twitter.
India legend Anil Kumble was all praises for Shahrukh Khan after their IPL game against LSG. "He is a finisher. That is what he does for Tamil Nadu in the games he's played for them, and it was really nice to see him finish things off. In the previous game as well, he had a cameo right at the end. But this one was under pressure. They had to get almost 10 runs an over in the last two overs, with Harpreet Brar on the other end and Sikander Raza got out in the previous over. That was a well-made 23 to finish things off for Punjab. This will give him a lot of confidence going into the latter half of the tournament," Kumble said.
