WATCH: Pakistan star batter Saim Ayub slams fiery fifty to take Guyana Amazon Warriors on top of table in CPL 2023

Pakistan star batter Saim Ayub shined in the 19th match of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2023 as he scored 62 (43) runs, including four sixes and the same number of boundaries. Guyana Amazon Warriors were chasing 173 runs against Trinbago Knight Riders where Saim was the opener for the Guyana-based side and helped win the game by six wickets with five balls remaining. After this win, the Imran Tahir-led is at the top of the CPL 2023 table. 

It is pertinent to mention that, chasing a total of 173 runs, Guyana did not start well and got the first blow in the second over of the innings, as an opener Chandrapaul Hemraj got out on 10 runs. Saim and Shai Hope together added 93 runs for the second wicket which Hope contributed with his 51 runs off 40 balls, including three fours and the same number of sixes.

Eventually, Pakistan's star left-handed batter was dismissed on the 13th over of the game, after his departure, wicketkeeper batter Azam Khan and Shimron Hetmyer together added quick-fire runs to win the game. In his innings, Azam scored 29 runs off 14 balls, while Hetmyer scored 13 (7), In the bowling department for Trinidad, Ali Khan and Andre Russell together clinched two wickets each, while other bowlers failed to give any breakthrough. 

Trinbago failed to capitalise on the opportunity against Guyana in CPL 2023

At the start of the play, Guyana's skipper won the toss and opted to bowl first, Kieron Pollard-led side lost the first two wickets under the fifth over of the game, as both the openers Mark Deyal and Martin Guptill were dismissed. Later in the innings, Lorcan Tucker and Akeal Hosein tried to stabilize the innings as they scored 38 (25) and 44 (35) respectively. 

Speaking of the CPL 2023 points table, the Guyana-based side is on top with four wins, followed by St Lucia Kings, while Trinbago Knight Riders are in the third spot with three wins in six games it played this season.
