The Pakistani Cricket Team’s preparation for the 2023 ODI World Cup did not get off to a good start. In their first warm-up game on Friday, Babar Azam’s side lost to New Zealand. This was despite Pakistan scoring an imposing 345 on the board as the Kiwis chased it down with ease.

It was a rude jolt for the Pakistan team ahead of the huge tournament. The 1992 World Cup winners have come to India after 7 years. The welcome afforded to the 15-man squad had overwhelmed the Pakistani players.

Pakistan will play their next warm-up game against Australia in Hyderabad. The men in green will then play the Netherlands in their opening game. The biggest game for Pakistan is on the 14th of October when they take on India in Ahmedabad.

Pakistan team treated to local delicacies on their day out

After their loss to New Zealand, the Pakistani team was out visiting the city over the weekend. The team went to a local famous restaurant to try some of the finest Hyderabadi delicacies. Pakistan Cricket’s official Twitter handle posted a two-minute video of the entire team enjoying themselves.

The Pakistani team got onto the official bus and visited a famous local restaurant. The players and staff were given a warm welcome. Guests can be seen clapping for the players as they make their way to the tables.

Towards the end of the video, the fans gathered outside and found some players to click pics with. The Pakistani players obliged as they signed autographs and clicked selfies with the hotel staff as well. The players then headed back to the bus to make their way back to the hotel with security personnel in tow.

Former Pakistan skipper Ramiz Raja was at a loss for words after the Babar Azam-led side lost to New Zealand. The former chief of Pakistan Cricket said “I feel Pakistan is now getting a habit of losing. First, they lost in the Asia Cup, and now here. Pakistan scored 345 and it was a great run-chase. If these are the pitches – and you will get such pitches in India – you will have to score 400 if your bowling keeps misfiring like this.”
