The England vs New Zealand Test series continues with Ben Stokes and Co. troubling the hosts in the second innings of the second Test at Basin Reserve, Wellington. England, currently, lead the two-match series 1-0 and Southee-led NZ need to win this Test to level the series.

However, nothing is going right for the Kiwis now as their batting line-up collapsed after trying to match the huge total put up by the English batters. New Zealand are 138/7, trailing by 297 runs at the end of the second day.

It wasn't a steady start for the Blackcaps as they lost their star opener Devon Conway for a 3-ball duck in the first innings. Tom Latham, who scored 35 runs from 76, is the top scorer for the hosts so far.

Meanwhile, when Henry Nicholls (30 off 38) looked to build a partnership with Daryl Mitchell (13 off 39), the former was caught by Ollie Pope as he failed to play the reverse sweep. The ball went off the bat, then brushed the shoulder of Nicholls to bounce up and Pope at forward short leg (FSL) took a sharp catch.

New Zealand are 297 runs behind

England started the second day of the second Test with Joe Root and Harry Brook remaining unbeaten after their centuries on the previous day. Brook (186 off 176 balls) looked good to score his maiden double century in international cricket but was dismissed early without troubling the scoreboard on Day 2. Former England captain, Root was unbeaten on 153 to take his team to 435 runs. The visitors declared their innings and called on the Kiwi batters for their response.

Besides, Stuart Broad took the wicket of Michael Bracewell.
