The first Test between England and Pakistan is going on in Rawalpindi. And even after three days have ended, the first innings of both sides have not yet been completed. The hot topic of discussion has been the pitch at Rawalpindi. England scored 657 in the first innings whereas Pakistan have also scored over 550 in their first innings.

Pakistan fast bowler Naseem Shah was asked a rather strange question about the pitch at Rawalpindi. The talk between the journalist and Naseem was a nice easy-going conversation and Naseem also took it on a lighthearted note but the press conference ended on a tense note.

"There was a wicket like this a long time back in Faisalabad and Dennis Lillee had said that he would like to be cremated on a pitch like this when he dies. Do you think it was a wicket like that?” the journalist asked. Naseem smiled and replied: “Sir ab aap mujhe maarne ke chakkar me hain (Now, you even want to kill me)”. This was a summary of the conversation between the journalist and Naseem Shah.

The atmosphere at the press conference became tense after Naseem's reply

Things became slightly heated at the press conference as the journalist did not take kindly to what the moderator had to say after Naseem's quirky reply. . "Meri topi, ye salwaar kameez dekh ke ye na soche ki mai naya aya hu. Ye saare bacche hai mere saamne. (Don't look at my clothes and think that I am new here. They are all kids in front of me)," the moderator said.

"Mujhe sawaal puchne de na, ye kya tareeka hai. Aap mujhe batayenge tareeka. Aap paida nai hue the tab se mai sports journalism karra hu. Tareeka aap batayenge mujhe? (Let me ask the question, what kind of behaviour is this? Will you teach me how to talk? You weren't even born when I started out in sports journalism. You will teach me how to talk?)" Naseem had to broker peace between the two parties and diffuse the tension. He told the moderator to allow the journalist to ask his question and also said sorry to the moderator.
