New Zealand star Amelia Kerr is all set to have a blast in the inaugural Women's T20 League 2023 opener against the Gujarat franchise at the DY Patil Stadium in Mumbai on Saturday, March 4. Kerr was bought by Mumbai after her brilliant all-round performance in the recently concluded Women’s 20-20 World Cup.

In a video that surfaced on Twitter, the Mumbai all-rounder can be seen hitting it out of the park in a training session ahead of her first match. She also imitated the scoop shots of Mumbai batter Suryakumar Yadav, who is known for his impressive unorthodox shots and is currently the best T20 batter in the world.

Kerr had a brilliant performance in the T20 World Cup, scoring 113 runs and picking up six wickets in four games. However, she was unable to take her team to the semifinals as New Zealand ended their campaign in the group stage. The 22-year-old has so far represented her country in 59 T20 matches, scoring 657 runs and taking 58 wickets. Kerr's experience in the Women's Big Bash League and The Hundred, combined with her ability to win games single-handedly, forced Mumbai to buy her for ₹1 crore.
