India and Bangladesh locked horns again in the second Test at Dhaka. On a pitch which had a tinge of green and looked like a wicket for the pacer’s India dropped Kuldeep Yadav and handed a comeback to Jaydev Unadkat.  Bangladesh were going strong at one stage on 213-5 but India came back strongly to dismiss Bangladesh for just 227.

Umesh Yadav and Ravichandran Ashwin picked 4 wickets each for India in the first innings.  Then in the second innings India started off on a rough note at 72-3, But Rishabh Pant and Shreyas Iyer stitched a valuable partnership and bailed India out of trouble. Pant scored 93 and Shreyas Iyer scored 87.

Bangladesh were led in the second innings with the bat by Zakir Hasan who scored his second half-century in Test cricket. He toiled hard and made a precious 51 off 135 balls with 5 fours. Then the match meandered on and Bangladesh were in a precarious position at 113-6, when Litton Das came and played an outstanding innings of 73 off 98 balls with 7 four.  Das was looking good for a hundred, but Mohammed Siraj ended the right-hander’s stay at the crease with a cracking delivery.

Here is the video

It was a sharp delivery that came back in and breached the defences of Das. The stumps were rattled. This signalled the end of Das. On December 23, 2022, Das was picked up by the Kolkata Franchise in the Indian T20 League, at his base price of 50 lakh INR.

Even in the 20-20 World Cup 2022, The 28-year-old gave India a scare by scoring the fastest fifty by a Bangladesh batter. He scored 60 off just 27 balls with seven fours and three sixes. India won that World Cup encounter by the skin of their teeth by just 5 runs.

Siraj continued his fine form in the Test series against Bangladesh, he picked up two wickets in the second innings in Dhaka to add to the four wickets that he picked up at Chattogram. The second Test is heading to an interesting finish as India need 100 runs to win the Test match whereas Bangladesh requires 6 wickets.
