The advent of T20I has brought a myriad of different new shots to the game. Shots like the reverse sweep, scoop, slog, switch hit and many others have become a mainstay in the 20-over format.

The wheels of innovation however are still churning out newer, more unorthodox shots as batters continue to get one over the bowlers. In one such instance, England batter Moeen Ali has added his own to the growing list of outrageous shots.

Facing Tabraiz Shamsi in the 44th over of the first inning, Ali tried an audacious switch hit with just one hand. Unfortunately, the left-handed batter missed the shot and the brave shot selection failed to get any runs.\

Here's the video of Moeen Ali's outrageous shot:

The attempt however has garnered a lot of attention given its rarity of it. Not only cricket fans but even players were equally amazed at the shot. New Zealand’s player Jimmy Neesham also reacted to the shot on Twitter and expressed his amazement with the caption, “Hahahaha what have you done @Bazmccullum?!?!”

England cruise to a comfortable win, South Africa take the series

As for the match, it was an easy win for Jos Buttler led side who won the match by comfortably 59 runs. Captain Buttler led from the front and made 131 off 127 with the help of 6 fours and 7 sixes. Buttler’s innings helped England achieve a humongous total of 346/7.

Earlier England opener Jason Roy also brought up a high-quality century (118 off 114) with the help of 7 fours and 6 sixes. Ali ended England’s inning with a flurry as he made 41 off 23 hitting 4 sixes.

In reply, South Africa faltered at just 287 runs in 43.1 overs as Jofra Archer ran through the South African batting line up taking 6 wickets in 9.1 overs. Wicketkeeper Heinrich Klaasen’s 80 off 62 went out in vain as it failed to take South Africa to a win. Despite this loss, however, South Africa won the series by 2-1.3
