Australia won the second T20I against West Indies on October 7, Friday, at the Gabba and sealed the series 2-0. The series win proved to be morale-boosting for the Aaron Finch-led team and the Caribbean men will have a lot to work on ahead of the 20-20 World Cup 2022.
Mitchell Starc, who starred with the ball with a four-wicket haul for the Kangaroos, also showcased his athletic skills on the field. In the fifth ball of the first over, Starc caught and bowled Kyle Mayers and stunned everyone with some supreme agility and reflexes.
Commentators, who were in awe of the catch, said on air, “Oh, what a catch from Micthell Starc! He's an exceptional fieldsman. Greats hands, good mover. What has gone is the right hand but the left hand has come across and scooped it up nicely.”

They played better cricket than us: Nicholas Pooran
With regards to the match, the Kangaroos batted first and put on a total of 176 runs on the board, on the back of David Warner’s lagniappe as the southpaw compiled 75 runs off just 41 balls. Windies pacer Alzarri Joseph was the only bowler who outshined with the ball for West Indies with his impressive three-wicket haul.
West Indies, on the other hand, did not show much intent with the bat while chasing. After losing Mayers in the first over to Starc, the Caribbean side Brandon King and Johnson Charles tried to rebuild the innings. However, the duo crumbled in quick succession as King returned to the pavilion for 23 runs, while Charles made his way back for 29 runs.
The visitors lost the match by 31 runs after getting bowled out for 147 runs. The West Indies skipper, Nicholas Pooran, said that he was gutted by the defeat and hoped to do well in the 20-20 World Cup 2022. “Tough to lose. They played better cricket than us. Our bowlers did well to pull them back and keep them to below 180," Pooran said in the post-match interview.
"The batsmen got starts but did not convert and we lost wickets in the middle overs. An important week coming up for us. As a group we are understanding how to play in these conditions and are playing like a team. By the time of the World Cup Qualifiers we will be ready,” added Pooran.
