Watch: Mbappe tries desperately to get Henderson's attention before the QF clash but fails

The World Cup is not coming back to England as France beat England 2-1 in the quarterfinals of the FIFA World Cup 2022. France will now face Morocco in the semifinal and their title defence from 2018 carries on. The slow style of football from the Three Lions did not help and they became more proactive only when France scored their first goal.

England played much better football in the second half as Harry Kane converted a penalty to get the equaliser in the 54th minute to England. France drew first blood courtesy of Aurelien Tchouameni who struck in the 17th minute. Kane could not convert a penalty to get level the second time round after France had their second goal courtesy of Oliver Giroud.

Before the match began, when the teams were lining up in the tunnel, Kylian Mbappe, the French forward appeared to be in a playful mood as he constantly tried to get the attention of England midfielder, Jordan Henderson. He was seen tapping Henderson on his hands to get his attention and when that did not work, he did some weird body gestures so that Henderson could see him.

It was all to no avail in the end as Henderson did not even look in the direction of Mbappe and did not seem to have interest in him, these weird tactics from Mbappe happened before the vital quarterfinal game against France and England. France advanced into the semis and there is a chance that France could face off against Croatia in the finals of this year’s World Cup just like in 2018.

Croatia and France played in the final of the last football World Cup where they emerged champions against Croatia. If this happens this will only be the second time in consecutive World Cups that the finalists of last year face off again. It happened with Germany and Argentina who faced off in back-to-back World Cups with Argentina winning the first time and Germany winning the second time these two sides met.
