Australia and West Indies squared off against each other in the two match Test series. Australia won the toss and chose to bat. David Warner departed early for five as he chopped one back onto his stumps of Jayden Searles. But from then the Australian’s sent the West Indies on a leather hunt.
Usman Khawaja got Australia back in front by scoring a superb 65 off 149 balls with five fours and one six. Marnus Labuschagne continued to have a wonderful run at home and scored a scintillating 204 off 350 balls with 20 fours and one six. He put up a big stand of 251 runs with Steve Smith.
Labuschagne was unbeaten at the end of Day 1, but just before the close of play, he got a jaffa from Jason Holder where he could have been dismissed off that ball. The former West Indies captain bowled the ball on a length. The ball went away from Labuschagne. The way the ball beat the batter was great to see but how the middle order batter complemented Holder was funny.

Australia declared at 598-4 in the first innings
When the ball curved away from Labuschagne, he shouted, “Oh Jason, that's a delicious ball!” This made Jason Holder smile. His reaction though gave a hilarious laugh to the commentators. He was dismissed by Kraigg Braithwaite after he got to a double hundred. Smith also scored an unbeaten double century as Australia declared at 598-4 and are in a commanding position in the Test Match.
Smith put on a wonderful show to start the Australian summer on a great note, He also equalled the record of the legendary Australian great Don Bradman in his 88th Test. Labuschagne scored his second double hundred since he had made 215 against New Zealand in 2020 at Sydney. This has been a dominating show so far by Australia. This is the first test of the two-match series, this test is being played at Perth while the next test will happen at Adelaide.
