Peshawar Zalmi captain Babar Azam did a Rohit Sharma during a post-match presentation after his team lost to Islamabad United in their last match of the ongoing Pakistan Super League. The Pakistan star batter has often been compared to Virat Kohli mainly because of his batting style and record-breaking performances. But while addressing the media, Babar drew similarities with Indian captain Rohit Sharma.
The Pakistan captain's stunning reply came after the journalist asked him about his former team instead of the match. Babar, who was the leader of Karachi Kings till last season, was traded to Peshawar Zalmi ahead of PSL 2023. Karachi Kings struggle in the ongoing PSL as they have lost four matches so far this season. When a journalist asked him about the improvements Karachi need to make for a comeback in this edition, Babar did a Rohit Sharma by giving a hilarious reply.
"Main unka coach thodi hu? Aapse mujhse puch rahe hai unke baare mein. Aj ke match ki baat karte hai (Am I their coach? Why are you asking me about them? let's talk about today's match)," Babar said during the post-match press conference.

Babar's reply was similar to Rohit Sharma's reply to a Pakistani journalist's question during the 2019 ODI World Cup. When Rohit was asked about how Pakistan batters can improve, he replied with a big smile: “Agar main Pakistan ka coach bana to main bataunga, abhi kya bataunga (If I become the coach of Pakistan, I can tell. What will I say now)."
Talking about the match, the United batters completely crushed the Zalmi bowlers in 14.5 overs, beating the target of 156 runs set by Babar and co. Babar was the top scorer of Zalmi. Rahmanullah Gurbaz, who smashed 62 off 31 balls, and Rassie van der Dussen's handy knock of 42 off 29 balls gave United a six-wicket win. Babar’s team were 76/0 at one point but a sudden batting collapse saw them at 99/5. The embarrassing defeat has also raised questions over the Zalmi captain's strike rate as he was striking at only 129.31.
