New Zealand veteran middle-order batter Kane Williamson is currently recovering from an injury he sustained during the recently concluded Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023. Willamson played his first match for Gujarat Titans (GT) in the cash-rich league opening match. Unfortunately, he injured his knee while saving a ball at the boundary which was going for a six.
Meanwhile, Williamson shared an adorable video on his Instagram account in which the right-handed batter can be seen playing cricket with his daughter. The video went viral within seconds on social media and many fans have liked the father-daughter duo a lot. Some fans also wished Williamson a speedy recovery.

I’m making progress: Williamson about his recovery
Williamson’s spot in the upcoming ODI World Cup 2023 is also in doubt as the right-hander himself said that this is the first time he has sustained a long-term injury. The 32-year-old batter talked about his chances of playing in the grand event and said that he is currently focusing on getting fully fit rather than just rushing to participate in the tournament.
“I haven’t thought too much about that. I don’t know what the rulings are around that from a squad perspective. But the focus for me is getting it right regardless of the tournaments that are ahead. It’s within any athlete’s want to return as quickly as possible but not compromise the effort that goes in to make sure it’s strong and ready,” Williamson was quoted as saying by India Today.
“I’m just trying to keep it week-to-week at the moment. I’m making progress, but I’m not putting a timeline on anything. I haven’t had such a long-term injury before but talking to other people that have, the journey is a bit of a long one so if you look too far ahead it can probably become a little bit daunting.” he added
The Blackcaps would surely want to have Williamson by their side as his presence and leadership have helped the Kiwis to perform well in multiple major world tournaments. However, it would be interesting to see if Williamson would be able to make a comeback or not.
