Jurgen Klopp chose not to watch Mohamed Salah's penalty against Arsenal, leaving the Liverpool manager only to celebrate a miss. During the second half of a thrilling Premier League match at Anfield, the Reds had a glorious opportunity to draw level with the Gunners.

Salah had already given them a way back into the game after early efforts from Gabriel Martinelli and Gabriel Jesus before Liverpool was awarded a penalty for a foul on Diogo Jota in the box.

However, after missing his previous spot-kick against Bournemouth, the Egyptian superstar fluffed his lines again, rolling past the post from 12 yards. Klopp expected his star striker to score, but his mood changed dramatically in the space of a few seconds.

Salah's miss did not cost Liverpool too much, as Roberto Firmino snatched a late equaliser for the Reds, who could have won all three points had Salah and Ibrahima Konate not been denied by a pair of stunning saves from Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale.

In the meantime, when asked if Salah would be relieved of penalty-taking responsibilities, German coach Joachim Low told reporters, "That's something we will talk about, but not here."

Klopp couldn't watch as Salah, who had already dragged Liverpool back into the game before halftime, stepped up to the spot against Arsenal, and he initially mistook the 30-year-old to have scored a goal.

He said of celebrating too early: “I only saw the penalty after the game. A few people in the crowd reacted, so when you don’t see the penalty, you react on what the people see and a few people obviously thought the ball was in but it wasn’t. He missed the goal. So that’s why for a second the fist, and then I realised, ‘Oh, Mo isn’t celebrating.’ And then I realised the ball wasn’t in. That’s it.”
