WATCH: Junior Sinclair's athleticism to dismiss Martin Guptill in CPL 2023

The efforts of 22-year-old Junior Sinclair helped GAW to get rid of Martin Guptill in the second over of the match.

Junior Sinclair produced a stunning effort on the field in the ongoing Caribbean Premier League 2023. The sheer athleticism of Sinclair has made fans go crazy. For some, it reminded them of the young Jonty Rhodes, who used to create magical moments on the field. It was like a déjà vu from the past, almost like watching the former South African cricketer field.  

In the match against Trinbago Knight Riders, Guyana Amazon Warriors won by 6 wickets. But it was the second over of the match that caught all the attention. GAW won the toss and elected to bowl first, Martin Guptill was the batter. The 36-year-old played Romario Shepherd in the second over. The medium pacer bowled a good-length delivery to Guptill.

The opener tried to guide the ball towards the leg side to claim a quick single. But Junior Sinclair, who was stationed at the mid-wicket region inside the circle, ran quickly and fetched the ball. As Guptill tried to claim a single, Sinclair threw a diving underarm direct hit towards the non-striker's end, where Guptill was trying to fetch a single. It was so athletic. 

It reminded the fans and the commentators about Jonty Rhodes, who used to own the field like that in the 1990s in international cricket. The decision was in the favor of Sinclair, who had successfully inflicted the runout. The 22-year-old has been making headlines for his athleticism on the field. The electric fielder is known for his fielding and has done similar feats in the ongoing Caribbean Premier League in different matches.  

In the game against Barbados Royals, the GAW player had achieved a similar feat, when he ran out Rovman Powell. The runout had changed the complexion of the match completely. Similarly, the runout in the match against TKR also changed the match. By dismissing a dangerous batter like Guptill, GAW got the early lead in the match, built momentum on the same and eventually won the match.
