England and Pakistan squared off against each other at the Melbourne Cricket Ground for the final of the 20-20 World Cup 2022. England won the toss and chose to bowl In the first innings, Pakistan could not get going as their opening duo failed to show up on the big day. Mohammad Rizwan scored only 15 off 14 balls before he was dismissed by Sam Curran.
Babar Azam also was too slow to get off the blocks and ended up playing a laborious innings of 32 off 28 balls with two fours. This put pressure on the middle order. Adil Rashid and Sam Curran were sensational with the ball for England. Rashid picked up the wickets of Babar and Mohammad Harris. Curran picked up the wickets of Shaan Masood and Mohammad Nawaz. The clinical show from the England bowlers kept Pakistan down to just 137-8 in their 20 overs.
Jos Buttler and Ben Stokes special in second innings
In the second innings, Jos Buttler was in great form when he scored a quickfire 26 off 17 balls with three fours and 1 six. He got the six off a scoop shot off Naseen Shah in the fourth ball of the fourth over that went over the boundary line.
Naseem Shah bowled to Jos Buttler’s legs, but he shuffled across quickly and scooped the quickie skiddy pacer for a maximum over fine leg. What was more special was that he was able to execute the shot after being beaten on the outside edge thrice.
