The International League T20 (ILT20) based in the United Arab Emirates is going on and the inaugural edition is turning out to be a cracker, with teams leaving no stone unturned to create history by winning the title in the first-ever edition. Dubai Capitals squared off against Gulf Giants in Match 8 of the T20 extravaganza on January 19, Thursday and it was the latter who managed to come out on top post crushing the Capitals for 80, who were chasing a target of 182.
Joe Root, who plays for the Capitals, displayed some of his classics during the quickfire 20 that he scored on the day. To add more to the shots, one of them was a classic reverse scoop in the third ball off the first over from Sanchit Sharma while the other was a scoop shot over the short fine leg. However, the English star batter perished soon after and the Giants, who failed to recover from the initial hiccup, fell 102 runs short of the target.

Pleasing to contribute to the win: James Vince
As far as the match is concerned, the skipper of the Giants and star Three Lions batter James Vince stood up for the team with his 48-ball 76 to help the team put on the massive total although Shimron Hetmyer’s blitzkrieg 37 provided the much-needed finish for the team. David Wiese and Chris Jordan starred with the ball for the team with each of the pacers picking up 3 wickets apiece and helping the team crush the Capitals within the 100-run mark.
“It's nice. Pleasing to contribute to the win but three wins is a nice start for us. Some of us have experienced conditions here before. We thought 140-150 would be good but had a good base and Hetmyer and Dawson finished well to get 181,” Vince was quoted as saying during the post-match presentation after bagging the Player of the Match award.
“It's nice to be here with the family. As a bowling group we were really good. We spoke about our plans yesterday in practice and executed perfectly. We wanted to bowl back of a length,” he added.
