Team India have been on the hunt for a major international trophy since 2013 and they have a great opportunity coming up to end the drought - the 2023 ODI World Cup. However, the Men in Blue's preparation for the mega event is being hampered by injuries of some key players. Their absence from major tournaments in the past has had a significant negative impact on the team's overall performance.

Rishabh Pant and Jasprit Bumrah are two players who have been out of action for a while now. Pant has been sidelined since the start of the year following a terrific car accident, while Bumrah has been out for almost a year due to a back injury. Recent injuries to Shreyas Iyer and KL Rahul hit India hard in the World Test Championship (WTC) 2023 final, where they lost to Australia by 209 runs.

Bumrah last played for India in the T20 series against Australia in September 2022. His absence really hurt India in the 2022 T20 World Cup as they were knocked out in the semi-finals. The 29-year-old pacer underwent back surgery in March this year and is undergoing the recovery process at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru.

Bumrah is expected to make a return to Team India next month

With Rohit Sharma and Co. needing to win the World Cup in India later this year, they would like to bring Bumrah back into the squad to add more sharpness to their bowling attack. Meanwhile, recent reports are giving Indian fans a ray of hope as the right-arm pacer is slowly getting back on track and is likely to make a return shortly.

According to Indian Express, Bumrah might return to international cricket during India's three-match T20I series against Ireland in August. The report further states that the pacer is bowling close to 8-10 overs a day and may even play practice matches in the NCA as he does not show any discomfort.

Amidst these reports, a video also surfaced on the internet of Bumrah bowling in the nets without any discomfort and he is in full swing. A Twitter user posted with the caption: "Some good news. Bumrah getting ready. This is so pleasing."
