Watch: Indian flag raised high during Jeremy Lalrinnunga’s medal ceremony in Birmingham, video goes viral!

Lalrinnunga lifted a total of 300kgs to win gold for India.

Jeremy Lalrinnunga, the 19-year-old star made every Indian’s heart swell with pride. The young athlete has already become a star in the country with his gold at the Commonwealth Games 2022. The youngster bagged the second gold medal for India at the Commonwealth Games 2022.

Mirabai Chanu won the first gold medal for India at the Commonwealth Games 2022, and Lalrinnunga followed her path and ensured that the Indian flag was raised high during the medal ceremony. He lifted a total of 300kgs to win it for India.

Jeremy lifted 154kgs in his first successful attempt, but the athlete injured himself in the course. However, he did make a comeback to lift 160kgs in the second attempt, which was successful too. The athlete tried to lift 165kgs in his third attempt but failed to do so. However, he had a clear lead in clean and jerk round and that sealed the gold for him. Jeremy Lalrinnunga impressed everyone with his gesture as he exchanged handshakes with fellow medallists before receiving his gold.

Jeremy Lalrinnunga was one of the three Indians to win gold at the 2018 Youth Olympics. He lifted a total of 274kgs to achieve this feat. The 19-year-old also won a gold for India at the 2021 Commonwealth Championships in Tashkent by lifting a total of 305kgs. Jeremy holds the three National Records – snatch 141kgs, clean and jerk 167kgs, and a total of 306kgs in the 67kgs category.

Since December 2021, the gold medallist has been fighting injuries. However, things have changed drastically, and the athlete has consistently performed at a high level. The athlete also injured himself in the Commonwealth Games 2022. Lalrinnunga said that he has been suffering from a lot of injuries in recent times.

With age under his belt, the athlete is one of the stars to watch out for. The 2024 Paris Olympics will be huge for him and he must make it to the big stage. Nothing gives goosebumps as India’s flag being raised high with the national anthem at the Olympic games.
