The Indian men’s cricket team managed to salvage their pride against Bangladesh by winning the last ODI by a huge margin. The Indian Women’s team, on the other hand, managed to hog the limelight by beating the Australian Team in a thrilling super over.

There was a vociferous crowd at the DY Patil Sports Academy. The Harmanpreet Kaur-led side put in a performance for the ages as India did very well to equalise Australia’s batting performance and got to 187. Then they used their big hitting in the super over to give Australia a 21-run target but they fell short. The Women’s side performed a victory lap around the stadium holding the flag in their hands. The video of the lap of victory taken by the Indian eves was shared on the Instagram account of the Indian Cricket Team.

There were 47000 fans at the stadium to watch the match

These amazing scenes have made everyone’s hard throb and it has served as a great advertisement for Women’s cricket. India won the toss and chose to bowl first. On a batting-friendly pitch at the DY Patil Sports Complex, Australia sent India on a leather hunt as they scored 187-1 batting first in their 20 overs.

Beth Mooney scored a superb unbeaten 82 from 14 balls laced with 13 fours and Tahlia McGrath played a beautiful supporting role as he made a solid 70 off 51 balls with 10 fours and one six. India went hard after the target, as Smriti Mandhana and Shafai Verma blazed away in the power play. Mandhana smashed 79 off 49 balls with 9 fours and four sixes.

Verma made a quickfire 34 off 23 balls with four fours and one six. The match turned for India in the 16 th over, when Richa Ghosh smashed a quick-fire 26 off 13 balls with three sixes. Devika Vaidya made a crucial contribution of 11 runs off five balls with two fours to help India tie the scores off the last ball.

In the super over, Ghosh and Mandhana hit 21 runs off Heather Graham. Renuka Singh bowled the Super over for India where she conceded 16 runs and took the important wicket of Ashleigh Gardner. This was the first loss that Australia suffered in T20Is this year.
