WATCH: Gudakesh Motie picks up career-best figures to guide Guyana Amazon Warriors to victory in CPL 2023 game

West Indian left-arm spinner, Gudakesh Motie bowled a brilliant spell in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2023 as the St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots were bowled out for 132 runs. The Guyana Amazon Warriors won against the Patriots by 65 runs, this was also their first win of the CPL 2023. At the start of play, the Patriots won the toss and opted to field first, but despite losing early wickets, they posted an exceptional total of 197/7 in 20 overs. 

Whereas in the reply, when the Evin Lewis-led side came out to chase down the target of 198 runs, the skipper played a quickfire knock. But following his dismissal in the ninth over, no other batter apart from former Indian player Ambati Rayudu 32 (24) was able to trouble the scorers. 

In the Amazon Warriors' innings, their opener was removed in the very first over as Sheldon Cottrell dismissed Chandrapaul Hemraj for a duck. Saim Ayub and Azam Khan played till the sixth over as they lost a total of three wickets in the power play, After the end of six overs, the Guyana-based side was on 59/3.

Gudakesh Motie was adjudged the 'Player of the Match'

Shai Hope and Shimron Hetmyer started to build a partnership as the good momentum took the score to 101/3 at the end of the 10th over of the innings. Hope scored his 50 and got out at the end of the 13th over for 54 (32), while Hetmyer was dismissed on the very next over for 26 (22). The partnership was broken by Izhaulahaq Naveed as he bowled out Hope. The left-handed Hetmyer was dismissed at the deep point boundary as he tried to Oshane Thomas. 

Speaking of Motie, he was awarded Player of the Match for his amazing spell that took his side to victory. Eventually, Dwaine Pretorius dismissed Izharulhaq Naveed to bowl out Patriots for 132 runs in 16.5 overs. Although the Warriors and Patriots are adjacent to each other in the points table, Guyana is in the third spot with one win whereas the Patriots are in the fourth spot in the CPL 2023 points table.
