The Big Bash League has had a wonderful start this year. The games have been thrilling and exciting to watch. The League has been a pipeline for the next generation of Australian cricketers to come through. It has conducted 11 editions so far.
The 7th match of the ongoing 12th edition is being played between Melbourne Renegades and Sydney Thunder at Docklands Stadium in Melbourne. Sydney Thunder won the toss and opted to bat. They would have wanted to rectify things after getting all out for 15 runs in their last match.
Sydney Thunder got off to a good start, Alex Hales played a quickfire 16 off 12 with one four and one six before getting out off Mujeeb. Rilee Rossouw smashed 53 off 38 balls with three fours and four sixes. Tom Rogers then picked up Rossouw and Jason Sangha, followed by Andre Russell picking up Daniel Sams off his second ball.
It looked precarious for the Sydney Thunder at 112-5, but Oliver Davies and Alex Ross brought the thunder back in the hunt. Davies played a quickfire 33 off 18 balls with four fours and 1 six. Ross scored 39 off 23 balls with three fours and two sixes.
When Ross was batting on 21 off 13 balls, he hit a six into the crowd off the bowling of Tom Rogers. He hit the ball hard to the long-on region and the ball went to the stands. A fan tried to catch the ball in the crowd and in what was a comical moment, he fell off his chair while trying to catch the ball. This was not the best moment for the fan when it was recorded on TV.
