Given how Mumbai Indians started their innings, it never looked like they would only manage 157 runs at the end of the first innings. However, sensational bowling performances coupled with brilliant fielding efforts helped CSK make a comeback and dominate the game in the first half of the innings.
Rohit Sharma showed great intent and looked to play aggressively. He, along with Ishan Kishan, had managed to score 38 runs in just 4 overs. However, a sensational bowling from Deshpande had Mumbai skipper’s stumps rattled. He departed after scoring 21 runs in 13 balls.
Cameron Green hit a shot down the ground that only Ravindra Jadeja could pluck. He pulled off a sensational catch off his own bowling and saved the umpire from getting hit as well. Ishan Kishan was also playing exceptionally well. He blazed his way to 32 off 21 balls and could have scored a lot more but was caught at long on.
Well, these weren’t the only brilliant efforts from CSK fielders on the field, today. On the last ball of the 16th over, Tristan Stubbs smashed Magala for what looked like a six. However, Dwaine Pretorius, who was stationed there, initially misjudged it but later tracked back. He took the catch but lost his balance and thus lobbed the ball up and Gaikwad did the rest. Every CSK player and the fans applauded the efforts of Pretorius for his brilliant fielding effort.

Wickets continued to fall for Mumbai Indians as they restricted 157 runs in the first innings. Tim David (31 off 22) and Ishan Kishan (32 off 21) were the only players who could cross the 30-run mark. For CSK, Ravindra Jadeja starred with the ball, returning with figures of 3 for 20 in 4 overs, while the likes of Deshpande (2 for 31) and Santner (2 for 28) also returned with great figures.
