In reply, the Indian Women rode on a solid top-order performance by Shafali Verma (33 of 25) and Jemimah Rodriguez (53* off 38). Wicketkeeper-batter Richa Ghosh’s cameo of 31 runs off 20 deliveries was crucial to take India past the finish line with an over to go. Nashra Sandhu was the pick of the bowlers for Pakistan getting two wickets and conceding just 15 runs in her four overs.

After the game, Pakistan Cricket Board tweeted a video where the players from both teams were seen sharing smiles and taking selfies to commemorate the moment setting an example of how healthy sports rivalries are to be maintained.

Here’s the video:

‘I do not know what to say, but we needed a partnership and wanted to take the game deep. I had a good partnership with Richa, so we were confident. This knock means a lot to me; I have not scored a lot in recent games. We knew we could win the game if we batted till the end. The asking rate was around 10 runs an over, and the ball would come; we needed to take advantage. It was a difficult wicket, a bit two-paced, set-batter can score runs on it. It was a team effort, and we will let this win sink in. The tournament has just begun, and we need to take care of the process; the results will take care of itself, said Jemimah, the player of the match.
