The Bangalore franchise missed a big opportunity to dismiss Mumbai skipper Rohit Sharma in the ongoing clash of the Indian T20 League at M. Chinnaswamy stadium. On the 5th ball of the fifth of the first innings, Rohit Sharma mishit a short ball from Mohammed Siraj high in the air. The ball was falling near the short leg region and both Siraj and the wicketkeeper Dinesh Karthik got underneath the ball to take the catch. But both ended up colliding against each other and the catch was missed.

However, Rohit couldn’t capitalize on the second chance he got Akash Deep sent him back to the pavilion on 1 run on the second ball of the sixth over. The ball found the edge of Rohit’s bat and Karthik finally got the catch behind the wicket.

Bangalore skipper Faf du Plessis won the toss and asked Mumbai to bat first. Mumbai didn’t have a great start as they lost 4 wickets for 48 runs inside nine overs. Ishan Kishan and Cameron Green got out cheaply followed by the wicket of Rohit. Suryakumar Yadav also continued his poor form as he got out after scoring 15 runs. After that Tilak Verma and Nehal Wadhera took the innings further by adding 50 runs for the 5th wicket. Wadhera got out after scoring 21 runs off 13 balls with one four and two sixes.

On the other hand, Tilak remained unbeaten on 84 runs off 46 balls. He smashed nine fours and four sixes during his innings as Mumbai posted a total of 171 runs for the loss of 7 wickets. Karn Sharma scalped 2 wickets for Bangalore, while Mohammed Siraj, Harshal Patel, Reece Topley, Akash Deep and Michael Bracewell shared 1-1 wicket each. Bangalore now need 172 runs to start their 2023 campaign with a win.
