Running out a non-striker is becoming a prosaic act and the Cricket’s governing body considered it to be valid in the recent transfigurations made in the rules. Deepak Chahar, the Indian star pacer, tried to run out Tristan Stubbs at the non-striker’s end during the third T20I held at Indore on October 4, Tuesday.

In the 16th over, Deepak, who started his run-up, noticed Stubbs getting out of the crease, and paused as he entered the delivery stride to run him out at the non-striker's end. However, the pacer refused to dislodge the bails, and let it pass with just a silent warning. The video went viral, and fans feel that Chahar must have run him out instead.

Here’s the video:

India were chasing a target of 227 and succumbed for just 178 runs, letting South Africa win the match by 49 runs. Rilee Rossouw, who bagged two ducks in the first two matches, scored a leviathan century and powered South Africa to the huge total. India, in reply, failed to chase it down despite their aggressive intent.

Rohit Sharma opens up about the loss

India captain Rohit Sharma, who was disappointed with the debacle, said that the team needs to work on its bowling. Further, he said that there was room for amelioration.

“ As a team we said at the beginning, no matter what happens with the result - there's always room for improvement. We want to keep getting better as a team. Teams have been quite challenging, they can challenge in all departments. Something we have been talking about at length. We need to look at lot of things. Surya's form is a concern (laughs). We need to work on our bowling. We played against two quality sides, we came across tough challenges,” Rohit said during the post-match interview.

Although India are on a roll in bilaterals, it remains to see if they would carry on with the form in major tournaments as well. The Men in Blue bowed out of the 20-20 World Cup in the group stage in 2021 and they will look to turn things around this year in Australia.
