Watch: David Warner's breathtaking fielding saves four runs against Sri Lanka

Australian opener David Warner put his incredible fielding skills on display in the match against Sri Lanka in 20-20 World Cup.

The riveting action in the 20-20 World Cup continued on Tuesday as Austria took on Sri Lanka at Perth. Australian captain Aaron Finch won the toss and invited Sri Lanka to bat first. Australian bowlers gave their team a perfect start as Pat Cummins got rid of Kusal Mendis in the second over. Australian opener David Warner stole the limelight in during the first innings with his sensational fielding effort on the boundary.

The incident took place on the fourth ball of the eleventh over of the first innings bowled by Marcus Stoinis. Dhananjaya De silva hit Stoinis over his head as the ball was travelling in the air towards long off. David Warner who was running from Mid off had his eyes set on the ball and managed to grab hold of it at long off.

However, the momentum was taking him over the boundary rope. Warner showed great presence of mind and got rid of the ball quickly before he crossed the boundary. His breathtaking fielding was applauded by his teammates and the entire crowd.

Speaking of the match, after losing Kusal Mendis early, Pathum Nissanka and Dhananjaya De Silva added 69 runs for the second wicket. However, Nissanka couldn’t get going in his innings as he played with a strike rate of around 85. Both the batter returned to the pavilion with the score on 97 after 13.3 overs.

Charith Asalanka walked to the crease at no 4 and looked in great touch right from the word go. He played some marvellous shots to take his team to a decent total as other batters faltered around him. Sri Lanka kept on losing wickets and were 120/6 after 17.3 overs.

Following the loss of the sixth wicket, Chamika Karunaratne walked to the crease and scored much-needed boundaries to take Sri Lanka to a good finish. He scored 14 off 7 balls with the help of two fours. Sri Lanka finished their innings at 157/6 after their allotted 20 overs. Asalanka remained unbeaten on 38 off 25 balls.

Australia will look to chase down the target as quickly as possible in the must-win encounter.
