The Big Bash League 2022/23 (BBL 12) is ongoing and the teams are giving it their all to clinch the title of the highly competitive tournament. That being said, on January 28, Saturday, Perth Scorchers faced off against Sydney Sixers in the qualifier match and it was the former who made a cut to the summit clash after winning the contest.
While there were many turning points in the game, one fine moment that turned the game towards the Scorchers was the misunderstanding between the Sixers' keeper and star Australian batter Josh Philippe and allrounder Daniel Christian, in the 13th over of the game off Steve O’Keefe to Cameron Bancroft. Eventually, the batter survived as neither of the two caught the ball, eventually landing in no man’s space.

Satisfying to get over the line: Ashton Turner
As far as the match is concerned, it was the Moises Henriques-led team who won the toss and elected to bat first on a crucial day. Much to the surprise of the fans, it backfired as the Sixers got off to a shaky start losing 3 wickets after gathering 42 runs on the board. However, Henriques and Jordan Silk joined hands together and helped the team put on a total of 151 on the board with their 58 and 47 respectively.
To add more to the chase, it was Ashton Turner who turned the tables for the Scorchers with his quickfire and unbeaten 84 off just 47 balls, as they chased down the target with 7 wickets to spare after being restricted to 22/3 early on in the innings. Bancroft, on the other hand, played a handy role with his 45-ball 53, cementing a berth in the finals to be played on February 4.
“Satisfying to get over the line. Since the final last year, we've been ready to play the final anywhere, but obviously helps to play at home. Sixers were really good this season, they deserved to be in the top-two, so to beat them is special. Good to be able to stay in Perth for a few more days,” Turner was quoted as saying during the post-match presentation.
