In a record-breaking appearance, Portuguese Superstar Cristiano Ronaldo helps Portugal to beat Liechtenstein by 4-0 in Euro 2024 qualifying. The 38-year-old striker made his 197th appearance for Portugal and become the most capped player in men's international football. Ronaldo broke the record of Kuwait's Bader Al-Mutawa, who has played 196 international games.
On the record-breaking occasion, Ronaldo scored twice to help his team secure a comfortable win in Lisbon. Starting with Joao Cancelo’s and Bernardo Silva’s goals, Portugal pushed Liechtenstein way back into the game. Ronaldo being the cherry on the cake, scored two quick goals within 15 minutes to outplay the opponent.
In the 51st minute, Portugal earned a penalty and Ronaldo comfortably converted it into a goal. Although, just 12 minutes later, he smashed the net with a stunning free-kick and helped his team to take an invincible lead. Notably, Ronaldo made his comeback in the national side as he was dropped from starting XI during FIFA World Cup last year in Qatar.

“I still want to be called up very often", Says Cristiano Ronaldo
After making a world-breaking appearance for Portugal, Ronaldo spoke about his plans. The 38-year-old footballer said that he wants to play more international games for Portugal. He said, "Records are my motivation. I want to become the most capped player in history. That would make me proud. But it doesn't stop there, I still want to be called up very often."
Notably, Ronaldo last appeared in an international game during the quarterfinals of the World Cup against Morocco. He left the pitch in tears following Portugal's shock 1-0 loss against the North Africans. This was Ronaldo’s fifth World Cup appearance since his debut in 2003.
The Portuguese superstar is currently playing for Saudi club Al Nassr after joining them for an estimated sum of 200 million USD per year. He joined them for two seasons after a bizarre season with Manchester United.
