Trinbago Knight Riders on Thursday made it to their fifth Caribbean Premier League final. Kieron Pollard saw his team win the game by 7 wickets with 11 balls to spare. It was a comprehensive performance against an in-form Guyana Amazon Warriors side.

Trinbago Knight Riders skipper Kieron Pollard won the toss and chose to bowl first. The game was played in front of a capacity crowd at Providence Stadium in Guyana. Imran Tahir and his side had finished at the top of the table to qualify for the play-off matches. The loss now means that Guyana will play against Jamaica in the 2nd qualifier and the win reach the finals.

Opener Chadwick Walton displayed a batting masterclass to help Trinbago Knight Riders outclass Guyana Amazon Warriors in Qualifier 1 of the ongoing Caribbean Premier League 2023 and advance to the finals.

Odean Smith gets huge slice of luck thanks to TKR’s hilarious fielding

Terrence Hinds was bowling the third ball of the 6th to Odean Smith. The batter however tried to hit the short ball out of the ground. Smith could only get a bottom edge as the ball lobbed up in the air. Chadwick Walton and bowler Terrence Hinds came running to take the catch. Both the players though ended bumping into each other as the catch was dropped.

Put into bat, Guyana scored 166/7 from their 20 overs. Sam Ayub continued his good form with the bat. The left-hander scored 49 runs from 39 deliveries with 4 fours and a six. Azam Khan scored 27-ball 36 runs with 3 fours and a six in his knock.

Shai Hope and Shimron Hetmyer failed with the bat yet again as they could score 2 and 0 respectively. Guyana lower-order contributed with decent scores from D. Pretorius (15), R. Shepherd (16), and G. Motie (19 not out). Terrence Hinds and Waqar Salamkheil picked 2 wickets each. Ali Khan and Akeal Hossein picked a wicket apiece for TKR.

Chasing 167 to win, the TKR batters coasted to an easy win. Chadwick Walton replaced Martin Guptill at the top of the order. The right-handed batter made up with the bat after his error on the field.

Walton was not out on 80 off 57 deliveries with 6 fours and 4 sixes. Young Mark Deyal scored 15, while Nicolas Pooran scored 33. Kieron Pollard hit 24 runs in just 15 balls with 2 fours and a six. The winning hit came when Walton took a single to book a place in the final against either Guyana or Jamaica.
