The Indian Cricket Board announced their squad for the tours to Bangladesh and New Zealand on Monday. Ravindra Jadeja returns to the side, while Jasprit Bumrah was absent from all squad announcements.
The men in blue suffered a major setback ahead of the crucial 20-20 World Cup, and it came in the form of Jasprit Bumrah. Ravindra Jadeja was already injured, but Bumrah's late injury raised serious concerns about the team's management and India's death bowling department.
Following Bumrah's injury update, the team management, medical staff, and the National Cricket Academy (NCA) were all heavily criticised. India's hopes were dashed to some extent when their spearhead was ruled out, but they had no choice but to leave Bumrah out. Now, chief selector Chetan Sharma has responded to Jasprit Bumrah's injury by spilling some crucial information.
"The selection committee has a lot on their plate and has to deal with issues related to workload management. We monitor it very closely. We had tried to hurry Jasprit Bumrah, we tried to get him ready with the World Cup coming, but see what happened. We are without Jasprit in the ongoing World Cup," Chetan Sharma said in a virtual press conference.

When India was touring England, the Indian speedster suffered a severe back injury. This injury kept Bumrah out of the Asia Cup, which was held in August and September. India was eliminated from the tournament due to problems with their death bowling department.
Bumrah made a comeback during Australia's tour of India, but his injury worsened, and he was ruled out of the World Cup. Mohammad Shami, a travelling reserve, was drafted into the side and has performed admirably for Team India.
So far, the team led by Rohit Sharma has performed admirably in the tournament. The Men in Blue have won two of their three games until now. They defeated Pakistan and the Netherlands but were defeated by South Africa.
