The third season of the Lanka Premier League is currently underway and it has already seen some great performances in the first two days. In the epic tournament, the Sri Lankan players are giving it their all. In the match between Kandy Falcons and Galle Gladiators, the former came out on top thanks to a magnificent innings from Kamindu Mendis.

The dismissal of Nuwanidu Fernando, however, drew the attention of the fans. Carlos Brathwaite rattled the batter and Chamika Karunaratne eventually caught it off. The catch, however, did not come easily because the ball directly hit Karunaratne's mouth, causing him pain. Eventually, the cricketer completed the catch and returned Fernando to the dressing room.

As it turns out, Karunaratne broke four of his teeth before completing the catch. The batter attempted to hit the ball over the covers, but his timing was off. Karunaratne completed the catch by running backwards, which is never easy, after the ball hit him in the face.

As for the game, the Gladiators batted first and put on a meagre total of 121 runs by the end of the first innings. Kusal Mendis, Thanuka Dabare, Azam Khan (wk), and Ifthikhar Ahmed all perished in quick succession in a heartbreaking batting display.

The Falcons were all over the team during the chase and reached the target in 15 overs thanks to Kamindu's quickfire 44. Brathwaite, a West Indian allrounder, stood up for the Falcons earlier in the first innings and picked up four wickets to limit the Gladiators to a meagre total.

“The foreign players are doing a good job. We have an experienced side and that’s why we are doing a fine job. We have good bench strength as well. We are going with a balanced side. We are going to our home (Kandy), we’ll get good support from our fans,” Hasaranga was quoted as saying after their match ended.
