Bangladesh Coach Khaled Mahmud slammed Dasun Shanaka ahead of the clash against Sri Lanka. The two teams will lock horns on Thursday (1st September) and it will be crucial for both teams to make it to the next round. The winner of the clash will make it to the next round, while the loser will bow out of the Asia Cup 2022. India and Afghanistan are the only two teams who have made it to the next round.

The Sri Lankan captain earlier opined that the Bangladesh squad lacks quality bowlers. The comment has not fared up well with the Bangladesh coach who slammed the Sri Lankan captain in a presser on Wednesday. The Bangla Tigers lost the match against Afghanistan failing to defend the total and will now face Sri Lanka in a do-or-die match.

"I don’t know why Dasun Shanaka said such a thing. I heard that he said Bangladesh do not have bowlers except Shakib and Mustafizur. In fact, I do not see a single bowler in the Sri Lankan side," Mahmud said.

The coach heaped praise on Shakib Al Hasan and Mustafizur Rahman as he rated them the best bowlers in the modern era. He highlighted the importance of the two players and the impact they have on the team.

"At least we have two bowlers. They do not even have anyone of the quality of Shakib and Mustafizur in their side," Mahmud added further. He slammed the Sri Lankan captain further and questioned if there any such bowlers in the Sri Lankan side.

Earlier, Dasun Shanaka opined that the Bangladesh team lacks quality bowlers except for Shakib Al Hasan and Mustafizur Rahman. He acknowledged the two bowlers and added that his team can thump Sri Lanka in the upcoming clash.

"Afghanistan has a world-class bowling attack. We know Fizz is a good bowler. Shakib is a world-class bowler. But apart from them, there is no world-class bowler on the side. So if we compare with Afghanistan, Bangladesh is an easier opponent," Dasun Shanaka said post Afghanistan clash.
