Pakistan did not have the best of homecomings when Test Cricket returned to the country and England toured there after 17 years. Pakistan had lost a seven-match T20 series against England under Moeen Ali’s captaincy. Then, in the three-match Test series, England annihilated Pakistan 2-0 with one match to spare.

Ben Stokes and Brendon McCullum took a bold declaration on Day 4 in the first Test match which was held in a featherbed at Rawalpindi. This allowed England to win on Day 5. Then, England won the second Test in Multan by 26 runs. This was England’s first tour to Pakistan after 17 years and to win a series shows England’s grit.

Ahead of the Third Test match in Karachi, Babar Azam was seen doing some batting practice and Saqlain Mushtaq the Pakistan coach was seen bowling at him. He was seen reverse sweeping and trying to perfect the shot, but it did not work, and he was getting bowled, he tried the shot repeatedly but there was no change in the result. The worst part was he blamed the Pakistan coach because he was repeatedly getting out.

He also indicated to the coach that he should bowl at a spot where he can score some easy runs in the nets. In what was a comic moment, he failed to nail the reverse sweep and Mushtaq, even after all these years, was able to get the Pakistan captain out.

Babar Azam has been under pressure as batter and skipper recently

Babar has been under pressure due to his inconsistent run of form throughout the Test series, and he has been copping the brunt for poor decision-making as a captain. He was asked a question by a journalist recently that he and Mohammad Rizwan should retire from Tests and entirely focus on T20Is which riled him up to a great extent.

He did not have a great Asia Cup in 2022 and also did not have a good 20-20 World Cup in Australia. The runs have dried up from his bat and he has not been able to lead from the front. In 7 matches in the 20-20 World Cup, he scored just 124 runs at an average of 17.71 and at a strike rate of 93.23 He had only one half-century against his name throughout the tournament.
