Canada and Croatia locked horns in the FIFA World Cup 2022 on November 27, Sunday and it was the former who came out on top by scoring their first-ever goal in the history of the World Cup. To add more, Alphonso Davies, the star player from Canada, created history by scoring the first-ever goal for the team in the World Cup and by scoring it in just 2 minutes, Davies registered the fastest goal of the ongoing sporting event.
The two teams toiled it hard in the middle, although it was Canada who dominated the game in the first half. While many opined that they might as well finish the first 45 minutes without conceding the equaliser, Croatia’s Andrej Kramarić tarnished the hopes of the Canadian fans as he scored one for his team in the 36th minute.

Canada, Croatia look to survive in FIFA World Cup 2022
Sunday’s clash was a must-win game for Canada as they lost their opening game against Belgium in the ongoing biggest sporting event. Although they dominated the game, Croatia’s goal through the end of the first half, ensured that they shifted the momentum and broke Canadian players’ morale.
Croatia, on the other hand, are a point ahead of Canada as their first outing against Morocco ended in a draw. However, both teams might not take their games lightly given the margin of error is very less and a defeat could prove costly for either of the teams. With not much to work on in the group stage, both teams would hope to make their appearance in the Round of 16 stage, although Belgium might play the spoilsport and eventually make things difficult for either Canada or Croatia.
To add more to the first half, after scoring the equaliser in the 36th minute, Marko Livaja, another trusted player from the team, managed to score the second goal in the 44th minute, eventually letting the team take the much-needed lead. At the stroke of the first half whistle, Croatia were leading 2-1 and looked like favourites to win the game. Eventually, with Croatia's Kramarić scoring yet another goal in the 70th minute and Lovro Majer scoring it in extra time past the 90-minute mark, the Maple Leafs failed to score the equaliser in the second half, letting the Vatreni take home the 3 points.
