Former Pakistan skipper Wasim Akram has slammed the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) after the recent claims from Shahid Afridi. Apparently, Shahid claimed that the lead pacer of the Asian side, Shaheen Afridi didn't get any support from his cricket board. The 2009 20-20 World Cup winner went on to say that Shaheen had to book tickets to England from his own pocket.
The explosive batter added that Shaheen had to arrange for his hotel room as well. Furthermore, Shahid said that he arranged for a doctor for the left-arm pacer. The right-hander also mentioned about speaking to the board and hasn't gotten any support from them.
“When I talk about Shaheen.. that guy went to England on his own. He bought his own ticket, he spent his own money to stay in a hotel. I arranged a doctor for him, then he contacted the doctor. PCB is not doing anything, he was doing that on his own. Everything, from coordination to doctors to his hotel room and food expenses, he is paying out of his own pocket. As far as I know, Zakir Khan (Director of Cricket for international tours at the PCB) talked to him for 1-2 times, but that was it."
Yeh bohot shocking hai: Wasim Akram
In response to Shahid's claims, the 1992 World Cup winner has said that it is shocking to hear about Shaheen not getting any support from the board. The former said that Shaheen is one of the top players in the team. Akram further added that Shaheen should have been sent to the best knee surgeon when he got injured.
“Yeh bohot shocking he. He is one of our top...he is box-office. Aur agar yeh ladke ko hum nehin dekhenge, aur yeh sach he, toh yeh zyati he. He should have straightaway been sent to the best knee surgeon in the world. But woh akela kar raha he yeh sab...as I said I'm still shocked about it,” he said.
