Virat Kohli has come under the scanner for appealing for the no-ball yet again. This is now the second incident that happened involving Kohli. This incident unfolded in the 16th over of the innings where Kohli gestured to the square leg umpire about Hasan Mahmud infringing on the one bouncer in an over-rule after top-edging a pull shot.
Umpire Erasmus ruled the no-ball call in Kohli’s favour which angered Shakib Al Hasan to no bounds and also led to a meeting between Shakib, Kohli, and Erasmus.
This is not the first time that it has involved the former India captain. A similar incident had occurred against Pakistan in the final over of the match. Mohammad Nawaz bowled a waist high full toss and Kohli had clubbed it to a deep square leg. The result was that it was declared a no-ball as Kohli asked for it immediately after playing the shot and this helped India.
The next ball was a free hit which was awarded to India. India earned three runs off the free hit as the ball ricochet off the stumps. This helped the target to come down to one needed off two. Nawaz then bowled a wide and Ashwin hit one over mid-off on the final ball to ensure a famous win for India.
In the match against Bangladesh, Kohli was accused of fake fielding in the seventh over of the innings where he was seen relaying a throw off Arshdeep Singh in the deep and this went under the radar of the on-field umpires. This incident was also not noticed by the two batters in the middle at that point who were Litton Das and Najmul Hossain Shanto.
Bangladesh’s wicketkeeper batter Nurul Hasan was not happy as the incident went unnoticed. He felt that Bangladesh were deprived of 5 runs which according to him could have changed the game in a big way.
