After losing their first two matches in the 2023 Indian Premier League (IPL), Mumbai Indians won three in a row, with their latest triumph coming against Sunrisers Hyderabad on Tuesday, April 18. Chasing a massive score of 192, the SRH batters gave a bit of a scare towards the end of the innings, but the MI bowlers held their nerve to clinch a 14-run victory at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Hyderabad.

After losing a couple of early wickets in the second innings, SRH skipper Aiden Markram formed a brilliant partnership with opening batter Mayank Agarwal. However, a series of wicket loss and Agarwal's failure to play an aggressive knock, added more pressure on the hosts. Heinrich Klaasen produced a blazing knock to give his team a ray of hope when it appeared they might collapse for a low score.

After his dismissal, none of the batters could play responsibly and resulted in their third loss of the tournament. Cameron Green, who did the majority of the damage with the bat, is the hero of the night. The all-rounder also had a good outing with the ball as he conceded just 29 runs in his four overs and claimed one wicket. With 20 runs needed in the last over, Arjun Tendulkar produced a magnificent over to pick his maiden IPL wicket and bowl the opponent out for 178 runs.

Earlier, SRH sent MI to bat first after winning the toss and the Men in Blue posted a commendable total of 193 runs on the board. Like in the previous match, Rohit got his team off to a flying start, but he couldn’t capitalize, being dismissed for 28 runs off 18 balls in the fifth over. Ishan Kishan (38 off 31) also played a decent knock, while Suryakumar Yadav (7 off 3 balls), once again, disappointed.

The Aussie gun Cameron Green, who hit his maiden IPL fifty in just 33 balls, along with Tilak Varma counter-attacked and put on a 50-plus stand for the fourth wicket to get their team in a good position. Varma was dismissed after hitting 37 runs in 17 balls, while Green was unbeaten on 64 runs in 40 balls, including two sixes and six fours.
