Chennai Super Kings (CSK) registered an incredible 8-run victory over Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the 24th match of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) on Monday, April 17. It was another run-fest at the Chinnaswamy Stadium, with the RCB batters threatening to chase down the mammoth target of 227 at one stage. However, it was a disappointing night for Virat Kohli fans as the former RCB skipper was dismissed in the very first over. Kohli suffered another blow as he was fined 10% of the match fee for violating the IPL code of conduct during the match.

The IPL's official media advisory on the matter, however, provided no details regarding the incident that resulted in a violation of the Code of Conduct. But Kohli's aggressive celebration after the wicket of CSK all-rounder Shivam Dube is understood to have resulted in a Level 1 offence under Article 2.2.

"Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) batter Virat Kohli has been fined 10 percent of his match fee for breaching the IPL Code of Conduct during the TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 match against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru," the statement read.

"Mr. Kohli admitted to the Level 1 offence under Article 2.2 of the IPL Code of Conduct. For Level 1 breaches of the Code of Conduct, the Match Referee’s decision is final and binding," it added.

Kohli screams his lungs out after Dube's big wicket

The incident happened when the dangerous Shivam Dubey was dismissed by RCB pacer Wayne Parnell in the 17th over of the innings. Dube was playing like a dream, and after completing his brisk half-century, a mis-hit from the left-hander resulted in Mohammed Siraj taking a catch at the long-on boundary.

It was a big wicket for RCB as the 29-year-old was was taking the match away from them with his power hitting. Dube departed for 52 off 27, but ensured his team reached a comfortable position. All the RCB players celebrated the massive breakthrough, but Virat Kohli, who is usually screaming at the top of his lungs, was seen doing it with mouthing a few words.

Kohli had a bad day with the bat as he was unfortunately dismissed for six runs in the first over. RCB's two overseas batters, Faf du Plessis and Glenn Maxwell, brought them back into the game with a third wicket stand of 126 runs. After their dismissal, Dinesh Karthik and Suyash Prabhudessai played a fighting knock in the end to take their team home, but the CSK bowlers tightened the screws in the death overs to record a great win.
