England scripted history at the Melbourne Cricket Ground when they joined the West Indies to become only the second team in T20Is to win two T20 titles. England have come back in roaring fashion to win an ODI World Cup in 2019 and a 20-20 World Cup in 2022 since that dramatic exit in the 2015 World Cup against Bangladesh.

They have given a fresh lease of life to white ball cricket and have totally changed the mindset with regards to how white ball cricket should be played. Their side has a lot of batting depth, wonderful spin options, a lot of variety in the pace department and a well-balanced all-around side.

Keeping all these variables in mind, Michael Vaughan feels that India are playing an archaic brand of cricket when it comes to the white ball formats and that they should follow England’s way of playing the game. He also said that England are the outright favourites to clinch the 50 over World Cup in India.

Here is what he had to say, "The next big ticket is to win the 50 over World Cup in India next year. They have good spin options and you have to put them down as favourites for that tournament as well. When the tournament starts people will have India as favourites on home soil. Utter nonsense. England will be the team to beat without any question and that is going to be the case for a few more years to come," He told the Daily Telegraph.

"This group of England white ball players is extraordinary and for once English cricket has a trendsetting team the rest of the world should emulate. If I was running Indian cricket I would swallow my pride and look at England for inspiration," he concluded.

It is important to note that India have had a long drought of 9 years since they won a World Tournament. The ability to not finish well and win in the big games has been the achilles heel for the Men in Blue which they would look to address heading into the 2023 ODI World Cup.
