PSG striker Mbappe faces fan criticism for leaving after the contract ends but will play next season and depart afterwards. He must sign the contract before July 31 if he wants to play.

The Frenchman is linked to Real Madrid, and PSG doesn't want him to leave as a free agent. Los Blancos offered him a deal of 180 million euros in 2021, but the French league champions signed a one-year deal with him at the same time.

Argentina's Messi, a World Cup-winning skipper, left as a free agent and will join Inter Miami in the Mega Soccer League (MLS), owned by David Beckham.

You can’t control people’s reaction: Kylian Mbappe

Messi has urged his former teammate, Mbappe, to join FC Barcelona instead of going to Real Madrid after leaving the PSG side. "I prefer that you go to Barca. But if you want to go to Madrid, do it, you deserve a real winning project", Messi was quoted as saying.

Mbappe is an ideal replacement for Karim Benzema in the Real Madrid squad, who recently left the club and joined Al-Ittihad in the Saudi Pro League. For now, Madrid has signed Spain striker Joselu on loan from the Espanol side, who has been relegated from the league.

"I’ve already answered the question. I said my objective was to continue with the club. Staying at Paris Saint-Germain is my only option, for the moment. The letter was sent before (the France squad met up). I didn’t think a letter could kill someone or that I offended anyone. All I did was send a letter. You can’t control people’s reactions, but it doesn’t bother me much," Mbappe asserted on his future with the French league champions.
